Sophia Thomas Bridal and Prom
Location
Coming home from Texas, I was eager and ready to work on something new. It was only a couple days after that we were contacted by a new bridal line from Tampa called Sophia Thomas who needed help shooting their upcoming SS2021 line. We had about two days to pack our gear and board a flight down to Florida.
Creative and Pre-Production
This project was unique in that this was Sophia Thomas’ first campaign and first visual debut to consumers and retailers across the world. We had 48 hours (a very small window of time) to get everything sorted prior to our flight. We handled casting and budgeting before we arrived, working with CGM and Next Miami, as well as Sophia Thomas to figure out what best suited them. Then pivoted to creative and planning. After seeing some images of the gowns, I knew we wanted to approach this campaign through a mediterranean/euro-inspired visual fashion story. However, it was necessary to pay close attention to detail of the gowns, while also playing with light.
Scouting
When we landed, we immediately got into a Suburban and began our scout of St. Augustine and much of Tampa. It took almost 8 hours to land on the desired 7 locations we’d be using throughout the next two days.
Scheduling
After the scout, I compiled the images I took of the locations into a cohesive document that we could use to guide the client and crew throughout the next two days. We would begin day 1 with Bridal and move onto prom for day 2. The schedule and treatment document looked a bit like this:
Shoot Day 1
Shoot day 1 proved to be quite eventful, as per usual. We were pushed back a bit because of scheduling issues and changes to hair and makeup, but were able to get a quick few dresses shot. Battling with harsh sun, a scrim that was reluctant to stay still in the Florida winds, as well as a looming shower or two, we wrapped our first location and headed to the second location in downtown Tampa. From there, we finished our day at the beach.
Shoot Day 2
Shoot Day 2 saw us begin our day at the beach we finished at on day 1. From there, we went to downtown St. Augustine, where we wrapped up the project.
